Only 30 minutes from Bordeaux by land and accessible by river, Libourne and Saint-Emilion are two key cities of the Bordeaux vineyards.
Libourne, an English bastide harbour town founded in 1270
Libourne is a charming town of unique cultural heritage with its 13th century English bastide, its central square surrounded by arches, its 15th century town hall and its quaysides. To sample local products, visit its incredible market, which is held three times a week in the central square of the fortified town, as it has done for 600 years.
Saint-Emilion, the first listed viticultural landscape in the world
The Cité Médiéval of Saint-Emilion and its “jurisdiction” have been on the World Heritage List since 1999. This destination is a true open-air museum due to its rich architectural heritage, including the famous monolithic church. It is also renowned for its vineyards with more a hundred châteaux open to the public.
